Victorian & Edwardian timber flooring
Period floorboards are often successfully restored by sanding and finishing, whilst badly damaged or missing boards can be replaced with reclaimed timber of the same type and age. Fine colour matching is achieved using specialist stains and waxes.
Parquet floors and inlaid Victorian borders can be similarly treated, using sanding dust from the same floor mixed with resin to fill small gaps and cracks... matching the existing colour exactly!
Restoring a hundred-year-old oak or maple wood floor to its original glory is enormously satisfying, and adds significant value to a period property.
Panelling & timber fixtures
Wood panelling can be restored in-situ or replaced with an accurate reproduction using traditional timbers and techniques but including modern features such as sound insulation backing and fire retardant treatments.
Architectural features that alderley bowden specialise in restoring or sympathetically reproducing include skirtings, fireplace mantels and bookcases.
